Come in your finest 1930s gear, polish up your brogues, wear your boldest lipstick. Edwina teaches every step on the floor, so arrive knowing nothing and leave knowing plenty.

They called it the devil’s work

Public Dance Halls Act, 1935

No person shall hold any public dance save under a licence granted by the District Court, which shall have regard to public order and morality in the locality.

The crossroads dances ended. The halls were licensed, taxed, or closed.
